Jane & Peter & Harry

Being based in Yorkshire spoils me a bit.   We have some of the best wedding venues and scenery in the country.  Perhaps one of the grandest of those venues is the amazing Allerton Castle. It’s a nineteenth century, Victorian Gothic house, set in beautiful grounds near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire.  Outside, it towers over the surrounding area, visible for miles.  Inside, it is absolutely the most perfect setting for a Harry Potter themed wedding outside Hogwarts itself  (I don’t believe they do weddings there ).

Jane and Peter’s attention to detail was astounding.  You only have to look at the photographs of the table ornaments etc. that they made themselves.  It was literally like a props cupboard on the movie set.  I was genuinely super-impressed at what they’d managed to make – perhaps they should go into business?

Yes, an Owl…

I joined Jane at the castle as they were getting ready, first thing in the morning.  You really need to see the bridal suite here.  It’s massive.   It also has a huge gold wardrobe that could house most houses.   I’m guessing that wasn’t from Ikea!  Peter and his groomsmen arrived a bit later on and got ready in the billiard room – again, you couldn’t ask for a perfect setting.  So, after the ties were tied and the cuffs were linked, we went to rehearse the ring delivery.  The Harry Potter theme continued with an Owl as the ring bearer. Seriously, an Owl.

That gets us to the ceremony.  Allerton Castle has the most amazing hall for wedding ceremonies.  It’s stunning.  Even the Owl was impressed at the free room to fly about.  When it came to the job in hand though, the Owl delivered perfectly.

Bookings for 2021

2021 is filling up now, but I still have plenty of weekend and weekday dates available.  If you’d like more details or to meet to discuss your big day, please feel free to get in touch.

If you’re booked for 2020…

Obviously, it’s a worrying time.  No one expected that we would be in the situation that we are in.  If you have a wedding booked with me in the first half of 2020, you can get in touch with me and we’ll go over the options.
