Hornington Manor: Callie & George

I make no secret of the fact that I love Hornington Manor. If you’ve never been, it’s a beautiful country house near York. The thing I really like about shooting there is that everyone is there on the morning of the wedding, getting ready. There’s room for the Bride, the Groom and all of their friends and family to get ready in one place & that makes for a really special atmosphere. I love that you can walk around in a morning and every room has people in. People getting ready. People drinking tea. Everyone relaxed and having a good time together as they get ready.

That’s how it was back in October last year for the wedding of Callie & George. On an uncharacteristically warm October day, their families gathered, from both sides of the Atlantic for a fantastic celebration.

Callie & George had their whole wedding day at Hornington Manor. The ceremony was in the Barn. Then after everyone enjoyed the grounds for a bit, it was back to the Barn for something to eat and the speeches. Finally, the band set up, and the rest of the day was all about dancing.

Perhaps one of my favourite shots at a wedding is when you have the father of the bride & his daughter dancing. It’s normally later on in the evening and it’s normally one of the most emotional parts of the day. I think the reason I always like it is because it’s quite often a very quiet thing that not many people notice, which makes a great photograph of it all the more special.

Thanks to Callie & George and their families – I had a great day! Thanks too, to all of the team at Hornington Manor. You made it so special for the Bride and Groom, but also for my endless coffee refills.
