The Best of Both Worlds: Temple Newsam & Harewood House

I’m gradually working through transferring everything over from our MJHStudio website, to this new site.  True North Studio is where we’ll be posting everything in the future.  Portraits, Headshots, Weddings and Newborns will all be here soon…Obviously, that’s far too much for just me to deal with, so Fiona is the Newborn photographer – there will be more about that coming up soon…

Let’s get back to the matter in hand.  I should point out that the next few weddings on the blog will be from last year (2021).  We’ve been that busy at the studio, setting up the newborns, merging websites etc. I’m only just getting round to posting weddings again…

Miranda & Austin had their fantastic intimate day in not one, but two of the best venues in Yorkshire.  They had their ceremony at Temple Newsam in Leeds. Then, it was off to the Yorkshire countryside, for the reception meal at Harewood House.

Both venues are amazing and I love the low key lighting at Temple Newsam.  The room for the ceremony was a beautiful, historically wooden panelled affair. The terrace, the perfect place for post ceremony mingling.   The terrace theme was continued once we got to Harewood House for the meal in the afternoon and the guests got to enjoy a lovely mild day outdoors.

Over the past couple of years, smaller more intimate weddings have really taken off, for obvious reasons.   I loved photographing them as much as I love photographing the big days with a hundred + guests.  I wonder if weddings will return to their pre-covid sizes or if intimate celebrations are here to stay?

For Those Interested…

Miranda & Austin were both keen for the wedding to be captured in as much of a documentary style as possible.  Obviously, there were a few portraits, and a couple of family groups, but on the whole, the brief was for documentary.  I really enjoyed working with a lot more B&W and the vast majority of this wedding was shot on Fuji X100V cameras.
