Ellie & Tom at Hazlewood Castle (With Swords)

Ellie & Tom picked the beautiful location of Hazlewood Castle near York, for their big day.  It’s definitely a favourite of mine.  Hazlewood Castle is set on the edge of thick woodland, on a hill and has fantastic views to the horizon.  It’s also absolutely gorgeous inside.

We started off at Hazlewood in the morning, with Ellie getting ready.  Meanwhile, Tom was already in York, getting suited and booted with his guard of honour (That’s where the swords came in!).

The wedding ceremony was a first for me.  I think I’ve photographed weddings in most of the churches in and around York over the years, but this was my first one at St Wilfrid’s Church.  It’s beautiful.  Right in the heart of York and just up the road from York Minster.

After the ceremony, it was back to Hazlewood Castle for the festivities…

Ellie & Tom went for the full day package and also a 2nd photographer, to photograph Tom getting ready in York.  Sometimes, when the Bride & Groom get ready at separate locations,  having a 2nd photographer is the only way to get photographs of the groom getting ready.  I always use someone who’s style is similar to my own so we get a cohesive story of the day.  If you’d like to see more details about packages, feel free to take a look here, on the Weddings page.
